Day 201

My last night in Freo/Perth before heading to Sydney tomorrow... had to make a trip to the Mexican Kitchen where Matt used to work! It was a shame they closed a bit too early for us to have dinner but we are going to try to get there tomorrow before I get on my very late flight.

Day 200

Before we headed back to Perth, Tess and I stopped by Ngilgi Cave just north of Yallingup (near Dunsborough). It took about an hour to walk through but the inside was absolutely incredible (and near 100% humidity!).

Day 199

SJ and I went for a morning stroll along the beach this morning which ended in rain and a dip in the Indian Ocean BRRR

Mid-day we ended up at a few wineries (I know, tough life).

And on the way home I saw my first full rainbow!!

Day 198

We went for a wine tasting at Caves bar/winery in Yallingup this afternoon.
L-R: SJ, me, Ciara

Day 197

Road trip to Yallingup to visit SJ's parents! My first sunset down south...

Day 196

I went for another long walk along the Swan River again today...

These signs are all along the bank of the Swan River as people are constantly destroying wildlife/bush to make the view better from their homes. The signs will stay until the vegetation has grown back which I find to be quite an effective statement.

Day 195

Happy Bastille Day!!

Went for lunch today at a french cafe in Shenton Park called Choux it was AMAZING. Traditional baguettes and eclairs... appropriate lunch for the french holiday.

Day 194

The art gallery inside a cafe called Moore&Moore in Freo on the Notre Dame University campus (where Tess attends uni). I'm kind of obsessed with this cafe and I've been a few times while tess is in class.

Day 193

Thought I would share a bit of the house on here... this is the sitting room full of amazing books (which I obviously love).

We don't have dryers here so when it's chilly our clothes try on the rack here in the kitchen. :)

Day 192

Researching where to head to next... Kununurra is up on the border of the state of WA (western australia) and NT (northern territory). There are amazing national parks and open spaces in the area.

Day 191

I went for a walk today with mum and dad along the Swan River. We saw a flock of these beautiful rainbow colored parrots along the path.

This is a quiet little nook called the Green Place where we finished the walk.

Day 190

A kookaburra in the backyard!

Day 189

Red sky at night... it's been a stormy week.

Day 188

Went for coffee this afternoon with Kath before she was off back to Melbourne... I ordered a flat white (similar to a latte), how gorgeous is the design?

Day 187

Tess and I went for lunch and a walk around the Freo Art Centre which I found incredible. It is set in a beautiful old building that use to be home to a mental asylum (eek) and it was quite inspiring to perhaps take an art class soon? Here is me outside with the animal tiles... just loved the open spaces and child-friendly area!

Day 186

Sunset over Freo.

Day 185

My pseudo family here in perth... me, tess, gerard and sue

Admiring my flag cake before dinner...

L-R: me, tess, kath, liz and john on the 4th

The two American's on the 4th of July... (Deb and me) with my flag cake. Not bad, eh? Also take note of the Declaration of Independence hanging behind us and Deb's amazing decorating of all things american. Have to say it was one of the most festive 4th of July's I've been a part of.

Day 184

My bar at the Tradewinds hotel...

Went out for a night in Leederville (one of the suburbs of Perth). Gryon season 2009 reunion at the Leedy!! L-R: me, rahn, sj and dan

Day 183

Beer is so expensive in this country!!! These prices for a case of 24... while it's rather good beer, I miss a case of natty or bud light costing something like $15-20.

Day 182

Papaw... Australia's remedy for EVERYTHING. I became obsessed with this stuff in Suisse but it's so nice to finally be able to buy it anywhere I want.

Day 181

I baked cookies today for dinner at Deb and Ken's.

Day 180

This is the bit of our "garden" aka backyard that I love most... the bit that Americans would consider to be a garden. We grow all kinds of lettuce and veg back here. So fresh and delicious.

Day 179

Hamilton Street... the street I live on here in Freo!
